Yes, I bought a house in the Greater Heights Area of Houston, and depending on their needs, I recommend that many of my clients do the same! The Greater Heights comprises eight distinct neighborhoods centered around the historic Houston Heights, north of Downtown Houston. The neighborhoods that make up the Greater Heights are part of Super Neighborhood 15, an area where groups work together to plan and address the needs of their communities. As a result, the Greater Heights Area is home to some of the most charming, historic, and neighborly neighborhoods inside Houstons 610 Loop.
The Greater Heights Area is a popular destination for both first-time homebuyers as well as homebuyers looking for an upgrade. As an experienced Houston Realtor, I know that the Greater Heights Area is very popular with Houston-area residents and that my clients will definitely want to know about their potential housing options there. When I bought my first house, it was the first place I looked, too!
From hot bars and restaurants to local record stores, farmers markets, antique shops, grocery stores, and live music venues, the Greater Heights offers a delightful blend of big-city excitement mixed with small-town charm. If you love to get out and about in the city, there will be no shortage of things to do within 10 minutes of your house in the Greater Heights Area. Its the biggest reason why it was at the top of my list when looking for a new home!
Houston has plenty of interesting trails to explore, but I dont think theres a prettier one than the Heights Hike and Bike Trail. Its just a wonderful paved, 4.6-mile, two-way trail that traces its way along White Oak Bayou, crosses through the Heights neighborhoods, and connects again with the White Oak Bayou Trail. Its a great place to exercise at your own pace, whether that means walking, running, biking, or skating. The trail offers a great tour of the area and is terrific for people watching (and house-hunting)!
If you want to get out and about in the city of Houston, a car is still the best way to do it. The Greater Heights Area is in a great spot just minutes from downtown with easy access to main freeway arteries including Loop 610 North, Interstate 45, U.S. 290, and Interstate 10. If youre looking for a simple commute to almost anywhere in Houston, the Heights Area has got you covered.
Although the Greater Heights Area is home to some of the most expensive real estate in Houston, it is large and varied enough to contain many affordable housing options, as well. Particularly if youre a first-time home buyer in Houston, the Greater Heights Area will be somewhere youll want to look if you want a centrally located house that doesnt make you feel like youre stuck out in the boonies! (Youll want a good Realtor to help you look, though!)
Did I mention that the Greater Heights Area is popular with homebuyers? That means more and more people (including young people) are moving to the area and improving the already-impressive amenities found here. As a result, housing prices have a tendency to rise in the Greater Heights Area over time. In addition to a great place to live, your home here could be a great investment, too.
The Greater Heights is just a fun, friendly place to live, work, and play. It has all the charm of a small town with all the big-city amenities that people want. As a result, most people are simply happy to live here! It makes for good vibes when neighbors wave hello while walking their dogs or meeting up at the pub down the street. Life is good in the Greater Heights Area!
