Not everyone gets approved for a home loan when they first apply. If you get the dreaded, "NO", from a mortgage lender, you still have options!  1. Ask your lender why you were denied and start working on the obstacles immediately. 2. Consider applying for a home mortgage through a mortgage broker if you only contacted 1 bank.  A mortgage broker has multiple banks they work, and they may be able to help you. 3. Do not give-up! Being a home owner takes dedication and the higher your score the lower your interest rate will be, which translates to a lower house payment.  Buying a home when you are financially sound will save you a TON of money in the long run, and make homeownership much more enjoyable.  I recommend reading this article from Realtor.com before and after you apply for a mortgage.
