When deciding to buy a home one of the more important decisions you will make is what school district do you want to live in. If you are planning to move to Spring/Houston area, make sure you are aware of the rezoning process of one of the largest school districts, Klein Independent School District. Klein ISD is one of the more sought-after school districts to live in which is why the rezoning is so important. Rezoning is a process that takes place whenever a new campus of a particular school is opened. A zoning committee will be formed with parents, community members, teachers, principals, central office, and administrative staff in order to make zoning decisions.

Last year in 2016, Klein ISD rezoned the elementary school due to the opening of a new campus. The process was proposed to balance the enrollment. The 5th Klein high school was open this year, located on Spring Cypress Rd. Meetings were conducted in the fall of 2015 to discuss the attendance zones and zoning process for high school # 5. Typically, before the scheduled opening of a new school, zones are determined a year and a half before in order to provide ample time to the families to plan and prepare for the move. Transfer options have been approved for the newly opened high school by the Board of Trustees of Klein ISD. The transfer options include grade levels that will attend the campus and various other factors i.e. academics, extracurricular activities etc. The transfer options for High School Attendance Zones Related to High School #5 include that the new school will be opened with freshmen and sophomore students only. For the families, who have children transferred in different high school zones, a year by year transfer option should be provided to them.

It is always good to know what is going on with Klein ISD if you are looking to settle in Spring/Houston area. Since it is one of the largest more well-liked school districts, its rezoning process can have an affect the price level of the property. Also for future planning it is a good idea to make sure the home you buy is in a good school district for your children.
