8/2026 Grandma Sof serving up tons of great foods…haven’t you had enough? Do you want to get fat? No snack food in home. Went to a neighbor’s house after school, ate a hoho and wdatched Dark Shadows.
Spaghetti dinner – My Mom was a great cook but we didn’t have a lot of money. We would eat the spaghetti in big wooden bowls, piled high with pasta and sauce – never did not finish it all. This is still my favorite food.
Maybe 6th grade, weighed 101 pounds. My girlfriends started singing Margo 101---endlessly. U guess that was a lot. Self perception: I always had big hips and thighs. When I was young all I remember is my 21” waist which I could show off with middle revealing tops that were all the rage and are hot right now. 50 years later. And I can’t wear them now for sure because I am so fat.
Senior year in college, my boyfriend and I broke up. I was so heartbroken. I began to swim a mile a day at the college gym. I only ate wheatina, and I drank white wine. I lost a ton of weight. It was the first time I ever felt good about my body. But my mind was all fucked up and my heart was still broken.
Of course that weight came back on several years later. I was taking fertility drugs trying to get pregnant. Weight gaining drug for sure. Got pregnant with Ryan and gained a ton of weight which as usual, did not come off post partum.
Went on Weight watchers and went to gym. Lost 20 pounds. Then more fertility drugs, and got pregnant with Jake. Had liposuction six weeks later because we were going to Cannes and I needed a kickstart. The doctor should be shot for performing this operation only 6 months after delivering a baby. It was a horrible recovery period. And it barely did anything. And when you gain weight, you gain in in places you hadn’t before.
Then I had Kasey. I was heavy but I’d now kill for that weight. Next, I was so dissatisfied with my body I tried the lap band. Never lost a pound even thought I could not eat anything without spitting it up. Then I had a hernia operation (caused by the band} and had them remove the lapband.
Went on the Ideal Protein diet and lost 50 pounds in three months. I was incredibly happy about that. I kept it off for a few years but then I fell and broke my leg (2016). I was in bed for 6 weeks. My friends and family kept feeding me. I was living on Percodan, and eating everything. Needless to say I was gaining weight.
As long as I was working out after I healed, I was doing ok. And then the next wave of weight gain game rushing in. I tried Ozempic, Mounjaro and also compounded versions of each. Again, I barely ate, and would lose only 5 pounds, When I stopped taking them, each time, I gained another 10 pounds. Now I weigh more than I could ever imagine.
My MD has started me on Zepbound. Here I go again. Meantime, point is my weight has always greatly affected my life. It has kept me from being my best self because I am uncomfortable and extremely self-conscious.
It took many years of growing up to love myself. I am a great person. I am kind, honest, helpful, fun to be with, loving and giving. I can’t imagine the power I could have if I loved my body. I would dance again.
