I love watching the show Hoarders on the channel A&E, make sure you are not eating or have a weak stomach if you choose to watch it. It keeps me balanced lol. Being the mother of 3 boys and 1 girl I never could imagine so many things out of place. On the show, Hoarders,  all of their stories have many things in common, it all started after a dramatic event and it kept building each month or year! I know we always think we will need that receipt from Starbucks or Subway or we will wear it again...1 day LOL but check out the list and even if you declutter 1 or 2 things on the list you have made great steps. Who am I to judge right?

  • Your Car. Remove empty cups, take out bags, empty water bottles, wrappers, etc. Why are they in the car?
  • Clothes. Put away clean laundry and clothes you've pulled out and not worn.
  • Email inbox. Respond or flag immediately, delete messages you aren't saving and create folders to file away the rest. Stop giving every store your email address LOL. Create a special email address for those type of emails.
  • Home Entry. Easy to put it there and walk away. Put your keys, letters to be mailed, and sunglasses in a special place.
  • Handbags. Last week I had receipts from Jan 2021 (McDonald's , Panera Bread) that keep taking up space and became very embarrassing when those little papers fall out while you are looking for your keys or debit card. I have started telling the employee I do not need a receipt with pride, especially of it is under $5.
  • Kitchen Counters. Why are magazines, report cards, post cards, newspapers, and mail on the counter next to the appliances? Ask yourself. Move it and store away small appliances you do not use everyday or have not used in over month.
  • Kitchen sink. Wash those dishes or put them in the dishwasher. Put away clean dishes and do not put them on the other side of the sink (as my husband does) to dry for 24 hours LOL. After you wash them put them up or put in the drying rack. How much time does that take?
  • Mail. Face it head on as soon as you get it. Take bills to the desk where you pay them, file documents, trash junk mail.
  • Wallet. Organize your bills, coins, and credit cards, remove those faded receipts.
  • Workspaces. Desk, areas used for art, workshop counters should be cleared and organized at the end of the day.
