There is no quick fix to improving your credit score. It did not take it 1 day to damage your credit but several financial decisions=for some months that affected your score. It will take several months to get it back on track too. That does not mean it is impossible. Here are 4 steps to help boost your credit courtesy of The Texas Association of Realtors.
1. Check your credit report. The time you are scrolling the social media sites or down streaming music or a movie, you could be checking your credit report. FREE copies of your credit report are available at www.AnnualCreditReport.com, print it out or save to your computer or usb. Someone could have a utility bill in your name or even a house! Fraud is everywhere!
2. Use less available credit! Just because you have a 2,000 limit on a card does not mean you should use it. Try to pay down those balances if possible to 50% of your available credit. Refrain from Starbucks or the nail shop for a few months. LOL Also, you could ask for a higher limit then it may look better if you are at your max. make sure you don't go charge more!
3. Pay overdue accounts. They were gracious enough to give you the credit it's only right to repay them or make the account current. Would you want someone to do you like that? Once current, no more negative information will be added to your credit report and now more positive vibes can get your credit score back moving forward.
4. Don't close accounts. Keep the card active and set it up on auto-pay for 1 to 2 SMALL bills such as Netflix or your gym membership.
This should help you.
