Bayland was named in honor of the Bayland Orphan Home. A section of the local plat was named the Bayland Home Addition later to be named Woodson Place bounded roughly by Julian, Euclid, Michaux and Pecore.
William A. Wilson named streets after his three daughters: Florence, Helen and Louise. In later years, Louise was changed to Northwood.
Beauchamp is named for Thomas Beauchamp who discovered the fresh water springs south of White Oak Bayou and Houston Avenue. More on Beauchamp at a later date.
