As a newly licensed agent where can I find a mentor? I need something more than just classes at HAR.

Find a great agent and ADD VALUE to him / HELP HIM. I have had many people asked me to mentor them but only one really took the time to help me in my business and he got rewarded ' 10x' for that.

I am licensed agent and investor.

I am looking to train an individual on how to make money investing in real estate. I buy properties with a line of credit and offer owner financing.


I used to rep buyers and sellers but to much work for a small commission.

In a nutshell i buy homes market owner finance and create mortgage note and sell my note at closing for much bigger gain than 3% commission.
usually at ranging from $10k to $15k a month. Im averaging about 2 homes a month. I want to do more but by myself i can do more. I just need someone to do some some of the leg work for me and the same possibly introduce to your first investments.

Dear New Realtor. Well by now you are a year into your career, however if you are still needing a Mentor I would ask another experienced Realtor who you feel comfortable with, preferably one who is in your company. I remember when I was new, it was very stressful in the beginning; however I truly was blessed to have a team that mentored me step by step. This strong mentorship has helped me to be the successful Realtor I am now. Dont give up.

Become an assistant! That is the best way to learn the ropes and you can usually share in production and actually act as a buyers agent as well!

Congrats! I hope you were able to find a coach! Contact your office and as your Broker who they would recommend. Also try to take as many FREE classes as possible. Make sure that you find a technology coach and a real estate coach.

Congratulations! Aside from a great brokerage with lots of training, I listen to weekly Real Estate Pod Casts on my IPAD and Real Estate Training available on YouTube. I also listen to a weekly Top Agent Interview on topagentinterviews.com. Its a free site. I find it very helpful to get perspectives from many different agents in all parts of the country. Hopefully you will find your favorites and listen to them on a regular basis.

Great Question! I recommend you to interview at least 3-6 Brokerages around. Also interview new and season agents on that firm. Additionally I would looks at there HAR rating reviews , social media involvement and TREPAC involvement.

Lastly I will complete my business plan and determine with model fits the best yours. with out a plan you will not know what you are looking for. The trick is to find the right fit. $ is just one part there are more variables involved when you choose who to work with. Your goals will be different on your first 18 months than your first 3 years.

This is a great question and one that every new agent should ask when interviewing a Broker, unfortunately the question they ask first is the commission split. Splits mean nothing if you don't complete transactions.
Classes are great for general knowledge but until you are in the field you don't know what you need to know and what is a total waste of your time. Finding a Broker that will be there when the questions arise and they will on just about every transaction for the first few years because no two transactions are the same, that is the answer.
So ask the broker how available they are, talk to some of the agents for the real answer... Don't worry that the first broker you choose you have to stay with either, there is nothing wrong with moving around if needed, you gain knowledge from everything you do, even moving.
Mentors come from everywhere not just from someone you work with everyday, they can be a friend, a neighbor, a celebrity anyone who does something that you can learn from and take with you to make you better.

I would highly reccomend Keller Williams. We have a team mentality, there are always someone around to help answer questions, and there are always classes through-out the month that are offered to help us advance and become better agents.

Find an office that offers new agents a mentor, online training you can do on your own, and classroom training. You will need it all in the beginning. It's always nice to have a broker you feel comfortable talking to and asking questions. We offer all of that at RREA, but I'm sure there are other brokerage out there that also have good trainers in the office. Ask a lot of questions and find an office where there's a good fit!

Great question. How you start out is so important to your real estate career, as you are learning so much every day and building a foundation. Where do you live, and what part of town do you want to work in? Where is your community- do you have kids in school, attend church, health club, other groups to network? You have to maximize your opportunities. Interview with several offices before making a decision. See where it feels like a good fit. Training and education vary widely among brokers. Also make sure to ask about fees, expenses and splits. As a new agent you may be able to assist and get paid while learning from an experienced agent. It looks like you received some great advice here. I would definitely speak to your team/office manager about a mentor in your office. I am a Keller Williams agent. Our office, possibly like yours, has many great classes. Often our classes are taught by other agents, including top producers. Good Luck on your new career!

Interview with several different brokerage offices that are fairly close to where you live/and or want to work. Find an office that you "click" with, and that provides an opportunity for mentorship and education. Best of luck to you in your new endeavor. Contact me if you would like to talk further.

Start interviewing the companies and see which one works well for you and suits your personality. See which one will offer you good training and mentoring. Once you start doing it you will figure it out. Meet al least 3 to 5.

I started my career at Keller Williams Southwest. There was a mentoring program in place where new agents were matched with experienced Realtors. As mentioned, check with your office manager to see if your office has a mentoring program.

Congratulations!

You are at a great office, RE/MAX Woodlands Spring, and there are many good Realtors there who can be your mentor.

When I began my real estate career the office policy was to pair the new agents with an experienced agent for the first 12-18 months. To this day I am so grateful to Ann, my mentor, she guided me through my first transactions and fielded all my goofy questions, and was simply there for me whenever I had a need!!

Talk to your office manager about your desire to have a mentor, and I'm sure there is a Realtor in your office who would be honored to take on that role.

Congratulations on becoming licensed.

I see you are signed in as a consumer. You'll want to pick a brokerage to hold you license and become a member on HAR. Once you choose a brokerage, you should be able to connect with an experienced agent in that brokerage.
