Relocating, looking for neighborhood/town suggestions

I am hoping to relocate to the Houston area within the next 6 months.I currently live in Western Massachusetts and I have two children ages 17 and 12, grades 8 and 11. I will need to get permission from the court prior to moving out of state with them. Unfortunately, in order to plan my move, I need to receive permission from the court to relocate with my children. I am in the process of filing out the paperwork for the court and have run into the problem that I need to fill in a specific city that I want to live in and also need information on schools and pediatricians in the area. I was planning on receiving permission from the court before I starting searching for a home, but I don't know what to put on the paperwork. So, I am looking for suggestions on what area would best suit my needs. Let me tell you a bit about what I am looking for and perhaps you can suggest the area that best suits my requirements. I will be transferring for work and would either be working at Houston Hobby, or George Bush International (where I ultimately transfer will be based off of which town I decide to move to), so I will be looking for a home no more than a commute of 40 minutes from one or the other of those.A safe, family friendly neighborhood in a good school district.I would like 4 bedrooms, but could deal with 3.At least 2 bathrooms.A pool and central air are must haves. A garage and fenced yard would be nice, but are not deal breakers. I would also like a lot of windows and sunshine (my current home is dark and gloomy). I also like homes that have open floor plans. I am looking to spend up to $150,000, obviously less is better. :)Any suggestions on which town/area that would best suit my needs? Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Hey Soxi,

Come on down! You will not miss your Yankee cold winters (I have lots of family in MA too). There are lots of friendly people here from all over the world who will welcome your family and help you settle in.

Hobby and Bush airports are on completely opposite ends of town divided by the dense central city. You may want to work backwards by selecting schools first. To review public schools, you can try www.greatschools.org/texas/houston, or Google one of the other school rating sites. Depending on the kids' ages, you may have to look for multiple schools in the same area. Also keep in mind that many neighborhoods here have community pools. It may be challenging to get that many BRs and a pool on your budget.

I would suggest a house-hunting trip to get an idea of your options. Best of luck, and let me know if I can assist you in any way.

Hi Soxi,

I relocated to Houston 11 years ago from Boston (my hometown).
I work the Bush (IAH) area which includes Humble, Atascocita, Kingwood and Porter.
Homes up to 150K with pool are possible, but go quickly. There are many airport employees living in the area because of the close proximity to Bush.
Check out the link below to give you an idea of active with pool up to 150K.

Please feel free to contact me should you wish more information re schools and pediatricians in the area.

Best regards,

Dee

It is good to see that you are thinking ahead. The areas you mention (Hobby and Bush) literally span the width of the Houston area. Call me at your convenience (281) 404-7979. I can assist you in finding an agent(s) on each side of the city.
