Can you be more specific? Better how? Aesthetically or educational? Community as in people?

Not sure where you live but often times issues that come up are city ordinances. Some examples are parking in a yard or debris that might be a health hazard. For other issues you can often turn to your District City Council Member. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have that I can answer specific to your area.

Promoting local businesses that also give back to the community. Sponsoring beautification projects, local food banks, local schools, local charities. First priority should always be to take care of yourself so that you can beat take care of others. I will say a big part of my “why” is to give back to the community as a whole and that’s why we focus so much on League City. We will expand out as we grow, and our priority is right here first. Start small, go big!

Better how? There are a lot of answers to this question. Clean up after yourselves. Vote with your dollars buy buying local. Support small business owners. Host community events. Be a Big Brother/Sister. Get involved ins discussions that make people think. Go door to door with seed packets for beautiful flowers. Clip coupons together.

Communities improve when stakeholders become an integral part of the community. Participating in health and educational fairs, forums, hiring from the community, and supporting the small businesses is the community.

Volunteering energy and skills to a local organization is a great way to give back to your community. Whether a hospital, food bank, youth group, senior home, or animal shelter there are tones of local organizations that would benefit from your time. A quick search online will help find local opportunities. Or, contact organizations you’re interested in helping out to be put in touch with their local team.

Get to know your neighbors and look out for each other. This goes for everything from watching over each other‘s homes, to excepting each other‘s packages when Amazon or anyone else delivers them. Then then bringing them safely back to each other‘s homes. Small details such as this hope to ensure a more visual vigilant neighborhood where many larger issues are avoided before they ever arise because people are naturally in touch with each other and are more comfortable speaking to each other since it’s already done on a regular basis. Imagine if everyone in the neighborhood knew each other, or knew of each other through someone else kind of like a small town. It would become very close knit and safer, although there are pros and cons to that as well.

Be a good neighbor, take ownership, meet and get to know neighbors, attend PTO and/or HOA meetings, keep the home ara clean, well-kept, and well-maintained; drive safely and friendly in the neighborhood, wave at neighbors, organize and attend National Night Out, holiday open houses and block parties; thank your police and fire community helpers, read/support the local paper- it keeps the community transparent and encourages a thriving local economy through ads and articles; shop local, especially at the mom and pop eateries. Be positive and pass it forward.

In my opinion for a community to remain strong and vital it is important that the municipality works in unison with the HOH and civic clubs in keeping main arteries in an out of the areas well maintained and updated. The schools should all be performing above the norm. More importantly the people in the community must be fully engaged if the neighborhood is to remain a thriving community.

It is as simple as get involved. First, Get involved with your local HOA. Vote on issues that impact the quality of the neighborhood. Uphold and enforce your deed restrictions. Get involved with your neighbors. A friendly wave, word or smile will do wonders. Look out for one another and create an environment of inclusivity. The neighborhood is only as good as the people who live there. So if you want to improve your neighborhood, be a good neighbor.
