I’m about 4-6 weeks away from getting my real estate license. Currently doing my homework to see who would best to work with. I’m very ambitious and a quick learner so I’m looking to see which broker will be the best fit. Any suggestions? Thank you all in advance.

Congratulations on earning your real estate license! You are correct in wanting to associate with a brokerage that has a mentoring program of some sort. Before visiting with brokerages be clear about your business plan, and your career goals. Being an entrepreneur means having a plan for running your business, create a budget. How will you promote yourself? Create a marketing and advertising plan. Your broker is not going to create your business plans for you. You must do that. There are many classes at HAR and designation and certification courses offered by NAR that will help you with running and growing your business. You can search online for articles on how to start a small business, and how to start a real estate career. here is one to get you started. https://www.thebalancesmb.com/choosing-a-real-estate-broker-2866543

I wish you much success!

There are no right or wrong answers here. My suggestion is to pick someone who is responsive. All of the other things can be learned. However, if the broker is hard to reach, or unresponsive, you'll be in a world of hurt. I'm on my third brokerage in just 11 years, but I'm pretty sure I got it right this time. Keep doing your homework on Brokers. Ask to speak to his/her agents. Training, Coaching, Mentoring, and Constantly Pushing You Past Your Comfort Zone are must haves in your Brokerage.
All the best in your real estate career.

Hi Lou,

Selecting the right broker is almost like selecting a partner in life. You need to know exactly what you want. I would recommend you review your business mission and vision statement first- your broker should match this (at least to me it was very important).
Did you write a business plan? If so- determine how will the broker fit within that and how will they support your goals.
Most brokers offer education and support- it just depends on what YOU want, and that will determine which place is a good fit for you.
Another question to ask yourself- do you like small, family-like setting or prefer larger corporation? Do you need an office space, or prefer to work from home? How much support will you need from a broker as far as education? Do you have sales background, or do you need to learn business from scratch?

Make a list of your wants and needs, and bring it with you when you interview potential brokers. This will help you determine the best fit and which broker has the right educational plan for you.
Hope this helps, and wishing you best of luck.

I Would suggest looking for a Broker that will mentor you and answer questions as needed. Interview several and have your questions written down. Ask about pay structure, policies but more important about who looks at your contracts and answers your questions. Also if your from Houston take the HAR classes.
