My current apartment lease is up August 24th. I will be looking to rent a home after that. When should I start my search?

Hi Lauren,

Usually one month is sufficient for checking homes and submitting application. Knowing that August is going to be busy for real estate, It will be a good practice to work with an agent even before that , he will set email alerts for your search criteria and you can submit the first application for the home you wanted.
Contact me, we can work together to get you to the rental you wanted.

Begin your home search 6 to 8 weeks in advance of your lease ending; around June 23/24 is a good time to select a Realtor to help you; and to start looking online, and begin deciding which neighborhoods interests you.

Lauren, You may start looking several weeks in advance as the other agents suggested. The only problem I see with that is that homes that are for lease are usually on the market for a short time before they are leased. If you look at a home tomorrow (for example), that home might get leased next week, before you are ready for it. My suggestion is to make a list of the features you want in a home, but understand you may not be able to find a home that fits exactly what you are looking for. Focus on the features that are most important to you. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time, in my opinion, would be a good time to start looking for a home to lease. That is just my opinion. Good luck, and you may contact me if I can be of assistance.

You should start your search as soon as possible I see if you will meet the requirements to leasing a home.
Thank you,

Hi Lauren,

You may or may not be aware that in Houston, a tenant gets 60 days before the lease ends to notify their landlord/property manager if they are renewing the lease for the following year or if they are moving out. For you that period will start end of this month ie June. I would recommend that you should get hold of a realtor now so they can start searching appropriate homes for you in your desired area. If you start the search a little later, you might have to take up whatever is available just because the market will get extremely competitive. I hope this is helpful!

I will be more than glad to offer you my services. Leases is what I have been doing mostly this whole year.

Thank you!
