The first thing you will want to do is get pre-qualified for a mortgage. Once you know what you are qualified to buy and what your payments will be, you can start looking for homes in areas that are convenient for you and have homes in that price range. Generally, a buyers agent represent you will not cost you anything because the seller's on MLS have agreed to pay the buyer's agent's commission. A buyer's agent will have a fiduciary duty to you and can make your search easier and more efficient.
