Preservation Week - The Blue Tile Project

In celebration of Preservation Week, the Houston Metropolitan Research Center will host the founders of The Blue Tile Project to discuss their efforts to preserve the blue street tiles that can be found across the city. The blue tile street signs lined our streets as early as the 1930's and are slowly disappearing. These signs are the first known street art in Houston. The vision of the Blue Tile Project is to bring awareness to the street tiles and give Houstonians something to call their own. For more information about the project, check out their Facebook page or visit their website http://www.bluetileproject.com/ . This event is free and open to the public. If you have a special physical or communication need that may impact your participation in any of these activities, please contact the library staff prior to the program to discuss accommodations. We cannot ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification of need.
