HAR ANNOUNCES RECOMMENDED CANDIDATE JOHN "JR" MOON FOR MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PASADENA

HOUSTON – (April 21, 2017) – The Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) Board of Directors has announced its decision to support John “JR” Moon for Mayor of Pasadena in the Saturday, May 6 Pasadena City Elections. HAR Political Affairs Advisory Leadership Chair Misty Bacon commended Mr. Moon for his commitment to the interests of Pasadena. “This May, Pasadena voters have the opportunity to elect a new Mayor, ushering in a new chapter for the city,” said Bacon. “We are excited to support one of our own HAR member, not only because he is a REALTOR ® but because his experience and long standing commitment to the Pasadena community.”

Mr. Moon grew up in Pasadena, graduating from Sam Rayburn High School, attending San Jacinto College and receiving his degree from SMU and Master’s from University of Houston Clear Lake. A licensed CPA, the majority of his career was in banking and investments. He worked at Moody Bank as CFO managing large portfolios and hundreds of employees. Mr. Moon serves as Board of Trustee for San Jacinto College as well as being a member of the Pasadena Chamber, Pasadena Rodeo, Rotary as well as many other community organizations.

Houston Realtors are involved in the political process at all levels, promoting policies and supporting candidates who advocate for property rights and home ownership in the city of Pasadena. According to the U.S. Census Current Population Survey, Texas has a 62.2 percent in homeownership rate. The City of Pasadena has a 54.3 percent homeownership rate. Electing public officials who understand property owners’ concerns and act accordingly is the Association’s top priority.

The last day to register to vote is Thursday, April 6. Early voting begins on Monday, April 24 and runs through Tuesday, May 2.
