MLSCLOUD, A NETWORK OF PUBLIC MLS WEB SITES, NOW REPRESENTS MORE THAN HALF A MILLION REALTORS®
New online resource connects consumers to a growing number of real estate professionals, providing valuable information about dozens of U.S. housing markets HOUSTON — (Sept. 2, 2009) — Less than four months after its launch, MLSCloud (www.mlscloud.com) now puts more than half a million REALTORS® within easy reach of real estate consumers looking to buy and sell property from coast-to-coast and in Hawaii.
MLSCloud premiered in May as a cooperative service aimed at promoting collaboration between member real estate associations and Multiple Listing Services (MLSs) that operate public MLS Web sites. Since then, participation has grown from 350,000 real estate agent and broker members to nearly 502,000.
The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR), Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS) and MLSListings.com spearheaded the MLSCloud initiative in an effort to provide a wide range of online real estate information to millions of consumers around the country.
“Today’s consumer demands more information and greater transparency on the Web, and MLSCloud creates a winning environment for the consumer and real estate professional alike,” said HAR President and CEO Bob Hale. “MLSCloud provides free tools to educate consumers about specific real estate markets and the value of REALTOR® services while generating critical contacts and leads for brokers.”
“The chance to easily and inexpensively build on the success of other thriving public MLS Web sites is a great opportunity for all of us,” said MRIS President and CEO David Charron. “As one of the largest MLSs in the country, our transactions will only grow by getting involved with MLSCloud.”
Among the larger MLSCloud participants operating alongside HAR are the Southern California MLS (SoCal MLS), My Florida Homes MLS, MRIS (D.C.-Baltimore/Mid-Atlantic area) and the MLS of Long Island, N.Y. (MLSLI).
The MLSCloud home page features a map of the U.S. with interactive flags that link to the Web sites of the participating associations and MLSs. A complete directory of those businesses appears on the lower half of the page, and in between are real estate market reports from around the country.
Founded in 1918, the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) is a 23,000-member organization of real estate professionals engaged in every aspect of the industry, including residential and commercial sales and leasing, appraisal, property management and counseling. It is the largest local association/board of REALTORS® in the United States as well as the largest individual membership trade association in Houston.
