Willow Wood Junior High School’s regular student population is 829 with a 16.3 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Tomball Intermediate is 890 students and a 13.2 students/teacher ratio.
Willow Wood Junior High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 93 in student achievement, 93 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. It scored 95 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Tomball Intermediate also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 87 in student achievement, 87 in school progress, 97 in closing performance gaps and 90 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only five distinction designations or awards for outstanding performance. For Willow Wood Junior High School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Tomball Intermediate secured in Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Willow Wood Junior High School. They make up for 49.10% of student population, followed by Hispanics (28.95%), Asians (11.46%), African Americans (6.15%), Two or More Races (3.98%) and Native Americans (0.24%).
The student population at Tomball Intermediate is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 53.37%, followed by Hispanics (34.94%), African Americans (5.84%), Two or More Races (3.60%) and Asians (1.91%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Willow Wood Junior High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 27.74% compared to 46.52% at Tomball Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Willow Wood Junior High School has 71 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 8.56% of student population.
