West Briar Middle School’s regular student population is 1,117 with a 18.2 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Young Women's College Prep Academy is 427 students and a 14.5 students/teacher ratio.
West Briar Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. West Briar Middle School’s five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Young Women's College Prep Academy's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at West Briar Middle School. They make up for 36.71% of student population, followed by African Americans (33.57%), Whites or Caucasians (18.89%), Asians (8.77%), Two or More Races (1.79%) and Native Americans (0.27%).
The student population at Young Women's College Prep Academy is also predominantly by African Americans at 50.35%, followed by Hispanics (42.62%), Whites or Caucasians (3.04%), Asians (1.64%), Two or More Races (1.64%) and Native Americans (0.47%).
Based on household incomes, the West Briar Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 63.56% compared to 69.79% at Young Women's College Prep Academy.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, West Briar Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 17.64% of its student population compared to 6.56% at Young Women's College Prep Academy.
In addition, West Briar Middle School has 17.01% bilingual students, 25.43% are in the gifted and talented program, while 6.62% are in the special education program.
