Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. For Webb Elementary School this is in Science while Earl & Lottie Wolford Elementary School secured one for post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Webb Elementary School. They make up for 65.60% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (24.20%), African Americans (6.71%), Two or More Races (2.33%), Asians (0.58%) and Native Americans (0.58%).
At Earl & Lottie Wolford Elementary School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 61.52% of student population, followed by Hispanics (15.95%), African Americans (10.89%), Two or More Races (7.34%), Asians (3.80%) and Native Americans (0.25%).
Based on household incomes, Webb Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 68.51% compared to 17.72% at Earl & Lottie Wolford Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Webb Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 35.86% of its student population compared to 5.06% at Earl & Lottie Wolford Elementary School.
In addition, Webb Elementary School has 35.86% bilingual students, 6.41% are in the gifted and talented program, while 25.07% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Earl & Lottie Wolford Elementary School with 4.81% bilingual students, 15.70% gifted and talented students and 17.22% students in the special education program.
