A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Weatherford Elementary School and Wells Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Weatherford Elementary School. They make up for 51.49% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (24.94%), African Americans (13.04%), Asians (5.95%), Two or More Races (3.66%) and Native Americans (0.92%).
The student population at Wells Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 47.62%, followed by Asians (22.82%), Hispanics (15.87%), African Americans (7.94%), Two or More Races (4.17%) and Native Americans (1.39%).
Based on household incomes, Weatherford Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 59.73% compared to 22.02% at Wells Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Weatherford Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 49.43% of its student population compared to 15.28% at Wells Elementary School.
In addition, Weatherford Elementary School has 48.28% bilingual students, 7.09% are in the gifted and talented program, while 17.16% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Wells Elementary School with 14.88% bilingual students, 10.52% gifted and talented students and 16.07% students in the special education program.
