Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Warner Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Wilson Elementary School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Warner Elementary School has a regular student population of 1,172 with a 18.4 students/teacher ratio while Wilson Elementary School has 751 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.7 students/teacher ratio.
Warner Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. It is in this area where the two schools differ. Warner Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Wilson Elementary School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Asians comprise the biggest group at Warner Elementary School. They make up for 32.94% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (30.29%), Hispanics (18.26%), African Americans (12.97%), Two or More Races (5.38%) and Native Americans (0.17%).
The student population at Wilson Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 41.41%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (19.31%), African Americans (18.77%), Asians (14.38%), Two or More Races (5.06%) and Native Americans (0.93%).
Based on household incomes, the Warner Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 19.28% compared to 63.38% at Wilson Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Warner Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 16.47% of its student population compared to 22.24% at Wilson Elementary School.
Warner Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 15.70%, gifted and talented students, 15.02%, while 9.22% are in the special education program. Wilson Elementary School bilingual students comprise 21.17%, gifted and talented students, 2.80%, and 12.52% are in the special education program.
