Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Vogel Intermediate's four out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Travis Intermediate’s two out of seven distinctions are in Science and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Vogel Intermediate. They make up for 41.25% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (40.14%), African Americans (11.83%), Two or More Races (3.34%), Asians (2.53%) and Native Americans (0.40%).
At Travis Intermediate, Hispanics make up 79.58% of student population, followed by African Americans (12.64%), Whites or Caucasians (5.67%), Native Americans (0.97%), Two or More Races (0.81%) and Asians (0.32%).
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Vogel Intermediate has 191 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 19.31% of student population.
