Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only three distinction designations or awards for performance. For Tough Elementary School these are in Science, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps while Suchma Elementary School secured in Mathematics, Science and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Tough Elementary School. They make up for 54.62% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.05%), Asians (15.09%), Two or More Races (5.26%), African Americans (2.78%) and Native Americans (0.10%).
The student population at Suchma Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 37.62%, followed by Hispanics (29.47%), African Americans (17.78%), Asians (9.14%), Two or More Races (5.50%) and Native Americans (0.39%).
Based on household incomes, the Tough Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 6.75% compared to 38.51% at Suchma Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Tough Elementary School has a slightly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 13.80% of its student population compared to 12.08% at Suchma Elementary School.
Tough Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 13.41%, gifted and talented students, 17.28%, while 5.06% are in the special education program. Suchma Elementary School bilingual students comprise 10.71%, gifted and talented students, 6.09%, and 8.74% are in the special education program.
