Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Spring Meadows Elementary School, which is a part of JUDSON ISD, with Wortham Oaks Elementary School, which is a part of JUDSON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Spring Meadows Elementary School has a regular student population of 659 with a 15.7 students/teacher ratio while Wortham Oaks Elementary School has 708 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16.1 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Spring Meadows Elementary School’s only distinction designation is in Read/ELA. Wortham Oaks Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Spring Meadows Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 67.98% of student population, followed by African Americans (17.75%), Whites or Caucasians (10.02%), Two or More Races (3.19%), Asians (0.76%) and Native Americans (0.15%).
At Wortham Oaks Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 57.20% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (23.31%), African Americans (9.60%), Two or More Races (5.08%), Asians (4.38%) and Native Americans (0.28%).
Based on household incomes, Spring Meadows Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 81.03% compared to 41.24% at Wortham Oaks Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Spring Meadows Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 31.56% of its student population compared to 12.29% at Wortham Oaks Elementary School.
In addition, Spring Meadows Elementary School has 30.65% bilingual students, 3.34% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.56% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Wortham Oaks Elementary School with 14.41% bilingual students, 4.94% gifted and talented students and 12.01% students in the special education program.
