School Of Health Professions’s regular student population is 488 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at James Madison High School is 416 students and a student-teacher ratio of 12.7 students/teacher ratio.
School Of Health Professions performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 97 in student achievement, 96 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. School Of Health Professions bagged all seven distinction awards in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. James Madison High School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in School Of Health Professions is Hispanics who make up nearly 79.30% of student population, followed by African Americans (13.73%), Whites or Caucasians (3.07%), Asians (2.87%), Two or More Races (0.82%) and Native Americans (0.20%).
At James Madison High School, African Americans are the biggest group, comprising 60.58% of student population, followed by Hispanics (38.46%), Whites or Caucasians (0.48%) and Two or More Races (0.48%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the School Of Health Professions’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 70.49% compared to 95.67% at James Madison High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, School Of Health Professions has 57 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 11.68% of student population. James Madison High School has significantly more ELLs at 134 or about 32.21% of student population.
School Of Health Professions’s bilingual students comprise 11.89%, gifted and talented students, 50.00%, while 1.02% are in the special education program. James Madison High School bilingual students comprise 30.29%, gifted and talented students, 6.73%, and 8.89% are in the special education program.
