It scored 97 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Wilmer-Hutchins High School earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 68 in student achievement, 79 in school progress, 71 in closing performance gaps and 76 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
School For The Talented And Gifted's seven out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Wilmer-Hutchins High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at School For The Talented And Gifted. They make up for 38.25% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (31.47%), Asians (18.33%), African Americans (7.97%), Two or More Races (2.79%) and Native Americans (0.60%).
The student population at Wilmer-Hutchins High School is also predominantly by African Americans at 50.90%, followed by Hispanics (46.49%), Whites or Caucasians (1.30%), Native Americans (0.70%), Two or More Races (0.40%) and Asians (0.10%).
Based on household incomes, the School For The Talented And Gifted’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 38.45% compared to 98.00% at Wilmer-Hutchins High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, School For The Talented And Gifted has 22 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 4.38% of student population. Wilmer-Hutchins High School has significantly more ELLs at 308 or about 30.86% of student population.
School For The Talented And Gifted’s bilingual students comprise 4.78%, gifted and talented students, 81.47%, while 1.99% are in the special education program.
