When we compared Ronald Thornton Middle School, which is a part of FORT BEND ISD, with James Bowie Middle School, which is a part of FORT BEND ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Ronald Thornton Middle School’s regular student population is 1,464 with a 19.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at James Bowie Middle School is 1,534 students and a 17.7 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
James Bowie Middle School's two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Ronald Thornton Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Ronald Thornton Middle School. They make up for 31.56% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (29.64%), Hispanics (26.43%), Asians (6.83%), Two or More Races (4.99%) and Native Americans (0.41%).
The student population at James Bowie Middle School is also predominantly by African Americans at 28.49%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.21%), Hispanics (22.16%), Asians (18.77%), Two or More Races (3.59%) and Native Americans (0.33%).
Based on household incomes, the Ronald Thornton Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 37.02% compared to 40.03% at James Bowie Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Ronald Thornton Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 11.20% of its student population compared to 8.93% at James Bowie Middle School.
Ronald Thornton Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 10.72%, gifted and talented students, 6.42%, while 10.18% are in the special education program.
