Plano Sr High School’s regular student population is 2,446 with a student-teacher ratio of 15.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Plano Isd Academy High School is 380 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.1 students/teacher ratio.
Plano Sr High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 84 in school progress and 77 in closing performance gaps. It is in this area where the two schools differ. Plano Sr High School’s four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Plano Isd Academy High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Plano Sr High School. They make up for 40.27% of student population, followed by Hispanics (24.94%), Asians (17.05%), African Americans (12.92%), Two or More Races (4.37%) and Native Americans (0.37%).
At Plano Isd Academy High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 55.00% of student population, followed by Hispanics (21.05%), Asians (12.89%), African Americans (5.79%) and Two or More Races (5.26%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Plano Sr High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 30.91% compared to 17.63% at Plano Isd Academy High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Plano Sr High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 9.16% of its student population compared to 1.32% at Plano Isd Academy High School.
In addition, Plano Sr High School has 8.63% bilingual students, 23.02% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.12% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Plano Isd Academy High School with 1.32% bilingual students, 36.58% gifted and talented students and 4.21% students in the special education program.
Plano Sr High School's 155 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 9 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12 years. Plano Isd Academy High School's 27 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5.8 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.6 years.
Of its teaching staff, Plano Sr High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 23 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 52 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 32 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 31 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 12 beginning teachers. Plano Isd Academy High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has three teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, seven teachers have worked for 11-20 years, eight teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while eight teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only.
