Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Orange Grove Elementary School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, with Caraway Elementary School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Orange Grove Elementary School has a regular student population of 621 with a 16.4 students/teacher ratio while Caraway Elementary School has 489 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.8 students/teacher ratio.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Orange Grove Elementary School and Caraway Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Orange Grove Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 94.36% of student population, followed by African Americans (3.54%), Whites or Caucasians (1.93%) and Two or More Races (0.16%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
The student population at Caraway Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 51.12%, followed by African Americans (44.58%), Whites or Caucasians (2.45%), Two or More Races (1.64%) and Native Americans (0.20%). There is no Asians student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Orange Grove Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 91.95% compared to 92.23% at Caraway Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Orange Grove Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 65.70% of its student population compared to 39.47% at Caraway Elementary School.
Orange Grove Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 64.25%, gifted and talented students, 2.74%, while 8.21% are in the special education program. Caraway Elementary School bilingual students comprise 38.45%, gifted and talented students, 1.23%, and 12.47% are in the special education program.

The 33 teachers at Caraway Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 8.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.1 years.
