When we compared O'Hara Lanier Middle School, which is a part of BRAZOSPORT ISD, with Clute Intermediate, which is a part of BRAZOSPORT ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
O'Hara Lanier Middle School’s regular student population is 337 with a 11.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Clute Intermediate is 840 students and a 12.6 students/teacher ratio.
O'Hara Lanier Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 70 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 75 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. This is in post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in O'Hara Lanier Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 74.18% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (15.43%), African Americans (8.01%), Two or More Races (1.78%) and Native Americans (0.59%). There is no Asians student in the school.
At Clute Intermediate, Hispanics make up 69.05% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (19.76%), African Americans (7.86%), Two or More Races (2.50%), Asians (0.36%) and Native Americans (0.36%).
Based on household incomes, O'Hara Lanier Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 99.41% compared to 80.36% at Clute Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, O'Hara Lanier Middle School has 95 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 28.19% of student population. Clute Intermediate has significantly more ELLs at 144 or about 17.14% of student population.
In addition, O'Hara Lanier Middle School has 27.60% bilingual students, 9.50% are in the gifted and talented program, while 17.80% are in the special education program.
