Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Oak Point Elementary School and Lakeview Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Oak Point Elementary School. They make up for 50.94% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (30.44%), African Americans (11.36%), Two or More Races (5.27%), Asians (1.52%) and Native Americans (0.47%).
The student population at Lakeview Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 40.07%, followed by African Americans (29.53%), Hispanics (19.69%), Two or More Races (6.74%), Asians (3.45%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
Based on household incomes, Oak Point Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 52.46% compared to 39.21% at Lakeview Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Oak Point Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 38.76% of its student population compared to 10.54% at Lakeview Elementary School.
In addition, Oak Point Elementary School has 54.45% bilingual students, 5.39% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.90% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Lakeview Elementary School with 10.19% bilingual students, 5.53% gifted and talented students and 15.03% students in the special education program.
