Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Miller Point Elementary School, which is a part of JUDSON ISD, with Coronado Village Elementary School, which is a part of JUDSON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Miller Point Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Coronado Village Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Miller Point Elementary School. They make up for 57.07% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (17.89%), African Americans (15.92%), Two or More Races (5.72%) and Asians (2.33%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Coronado Village Elementary School, Hispanics make up 72.95% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (12.66%), African Americans (8.44%), Two or More Races (4.96%), Asians (0.50%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
Based on household incomes, Miller Point Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 82.47% compared to 72.21% at Coronado Village Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Miller Point Elementary School has 23 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 4.11% of student population. Coronado Village Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 134 or about 33.25% of student population.
In addition, Miller Point Elementary School has 2.33% bilingual students, 3.58% are in the gifted and talented program, while 17.89% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Coronado Village Elementary School with 44.17% bilingual students, 5.21% gifted and talented students and 10.92% students in the special education program.
