Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. When we compared Meadowbrook Middle School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Kirkpatrick Middle School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Meadowbrook Middle School’s regular student population is 822 with a 16.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Kirkpatrick Middle School is 484 students and a 14.7 students/teacher ratio.
Meadowbrook Middle School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365 (Not Rated per SB 1365) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 55 in student achievement, 60 in school progress and 61 in closing performance gaps. On the other hand, Kirkpatrick Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 60 in student achievement, 83 in school progress, 75 in closing performance gaps and 81 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Meadowbrook Middle School and Kirkpatrick Middle School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Meadowbrook Middle School. They make up for 55.23% of student population, followed by African Americans (36.62%), Whites or Caucasians (4.74%), Two or More Races (2.19%), Asians (0.61%) and Native Americans (0.12%).
At Kirkpatrick Middle School, Hispanics make up 87.19% of student population, followed by African Americans (8.06%), Whites or Caucasians (3.31%), Asians (1.24%) and Two or More Races (0.21%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Meadowbrook Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 94.28% compared to 97.73% at Kirkpatrick Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Meadowbrook Middle School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 40.02% of its student population compared to 63.64% at Kirkpatrick Middle School.
Meadowbrook Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 38.44%, gifted and talented students, 13.75%, while 10.71% are in the special education program. Kirkpatrick Middle School bilingual students comprise 61.57%, gifted and talented students, 13.02%, and 11.36% are in the special education program.
