When we compared McReynolds Middle School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Stevenson Middle School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
McReynolds Middle School’s regular student population is 470 with a 15.3 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Stevenson Middle School is 1,260 students and a 17.3 students/teacher ratio.

Stevenson Middle School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. McReynolds Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in McReynolds Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 74.47% of student population, followed by African Americans (24.68%), Whites or Caucasians (0.43%) and Native Americans (0.43%). There is no Asians and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Stevenson Middle School, Hispanics make up 90.87% of student population, followed by African Americans (4.60%), Asians (3.41%), Whites or Caucasians (0.71%), Two or More Races (0.24%) and Native Americans (0.08%).
Based on household incomes, McReynolds Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 97.87% compared to 91.59% at Stevenson Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, McReynolds Middle School has 164 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 34.89% of student population. Stevenson Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 573 or about 45.48% of student population.
In addition, McReynolds Middle School has 33.19% bilingual students, 8.09% are in the gifted and talented program, while 17.23% are in the special education program.
