Lone Star High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 72 in school progress and 85 in closing performance gaps. It scored 90 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Centennial High School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 95 in student achievement, 82 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 97 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Centennial High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and 25% closing performance gaps. Lone Star High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Lone Star High School. They make up for 38.26% of student population, followed by African Americans (20.95%), Hispanics (18.38%), Asians (17.27%), Two or More Races (4.88%) and Native Americans (0.27%).
The student population at Centennial High School is also predominantly by Asians at 45.14%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (31.93%), Hispanics (11.22%), African Americans (8.13%), Two or More Races (3.29%) and Native Americans (0.24%).
Based on household incomes, Lone Star High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 15.40% compared to 10.30% at Centennial High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Lone Star High School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 2.80% of its student population compared to 2.71% at Centennial High School.
In addition, Lone Star High School has 2.62% bilingual students, 10.39% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.74% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Centennial High School with 2.61% bilingual students, 24.96% gifted and talented students and 6.82% students in the special education program.
Lone Star High School's 143 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 11.3 years.
