As your children go through high school, choosing the right school is equally important as deciding on a perfect home. High school is when students are given the tools to figure out the paths they want to pursue as adults. There are more subjects and extra-curricular activities that students can choose from. When we compared Lee High School, which is a part of GOOSE CREEK CISD, with Impact Early College High School, which is a part of GOOSE CREEK CISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Lee High School’s regular student population is 1,805 with a student-teacher ratio of 13.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Impact Early College High School is 414 students and a student-teacher ratio of 24.3 students/teacher ratio.
Lee High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 84 in student achievement, 91 in school progress and 74 in closing performance gaps. It scored 86 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Impact Early College High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 96 in student achievement, 95 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 97 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. For Lee High School this is in post-secondary while Impact Early College High School secured one for 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Lee High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 70.69% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.51%), Whites or Caucasians (11.75%), Two or More Races (1.27%), Asians (0.55%) and Native Americans (0.17%).
At Impact Early College High School, Hispanics make up 73.19% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (11.11%), African Americans (9.18%), Asians (4.35%), Two or More Races (0.97%) and Native Americans (0.48%).
Based on household incomes, Lee High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 72.63% compared to 63.04% at Impact Early College High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Lee High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 13.80% of its student population compared to 1.45% at Impact Early College High School.
In addition, Lee High School has 13.07% bilingual students, 5.32% are in the gifted and talented program, while 14.35% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Impact Early College High School with 1.21% bilingual students, 17.39% gifted and talented students and 1.69% students in the special education program.
Lee High School's 129 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.8 years. Impact Early College High School's 17 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 10.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 17.3 years.
Of its teaching staff, Lee High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 14 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 36 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 24 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 36 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 12 beginning teachers. Impact Early College High School has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has four teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, six teachers have worked for 11-20 years, four teachers have worked for 6-10 years, no teacher serving the school for 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Lee High School employs 77 female teachers and 52 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 12 special education teachers are being assisted by 20 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs eight staff members in the school administration department and eight more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Impact Early College High School employs 12 female teachers and four male teachers. Of its teaching staff, one special education teacher is being assisted by one teacher only aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and two more working as school support staff.
