Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. When we compared Kennedy-Curry Middle School, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, with Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Kennedy-Curry Middle School’s regular student population is 658 with a 13.6 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School is 815 students and a 14.1 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Kennedy-Curry Middle School's two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress. Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Kennedy-Curry Middle School. They make up for 51.67% of student population, followed by Hispanics (43.92%), Two or More Races (1.98%), Whites or Caucasians (1.37%), Native Americans (0.61%) and Asians (0.46%).
At Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School, Hispanics make up 93.50% of student population, followed by African Americans (4.05%), Whites or Caucasians (1.35%), Native Americans (0.74%), Two or More Races (0.25%) and Asians (0.12%).
Based on household incomes, the Kennedy-Curry Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 91.19% compared to 94.60% at Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Kennedy-Curry Middle School has 211 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 32.07% of student population. Francisco Pancho Medrano Junior High School has significantly more ELLs at 682 or about 83.68% of student population.
In addition, Kennedy-Curry Middle School has 30.40% bilingual students, 15.05% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.92% are in the special education program.
