When we compared Jefferson Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Halpin Early Childhood Ctr, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Jefferson Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Halpin Early Childhood Ctr did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Jefferson Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 91.71% of student population, followed by African Americans (6.91%), Whites or Caucasians (1.10%) and Native Americans (0.28%). There is no Asians and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Halpin Early Childhood Ctr, Hispanics make up 75.43% of student population, followed by African Americans (22.14%), Whites or Caucasians (1.22%), Asians (0.97%) and Two or More Races (0.24%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Jefferson Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 95.86% compared to 99.27% at Halpin Early Childhood Ctr.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Jefferson Elementary School has 109 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 30.11% of student population. Halpin Early Childhood Ctr has significantly more ELLs at 266 or about 64.72% of student population.
Jefferson Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 30.11%, gifted and talented students, 2.21%, while 18.23% are in the special education program. Halpin Early Childhood Ctr bilingual students comprise 64.48%, gifted and talented students, 1.22%, and 5.84% are in the special education program.
