Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Jackson Elementary School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, with Dooley Elementary School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Jackson Elementary School has a regular student population of 642 with a 12.2 students/teacher ratio while Dooley Elementary School has 302 students and a student-teacher ratio of 9.4 students/teacher ratio.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Dooley Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Jackson Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Jackson Elementary School. They make up for 56.23% of student population, followed by African Americans (17.60%), Whites or Caucasians (15.73%), Asians (6.85%), Two or More Races (2.80%) and Native Americans (0.62%).
The student population at Dooley Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 34.44%, followed by Hispanics (32.78%), African Americans (14.90%), Asians (11.26%), Two or More Races (4.97%) and Native Americans (1.66%).
Based on household incomes, Jackson Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 56.07% compared to 44.70% at Dooley Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Jackson Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 53.27% of its student population compared to 20.53% at Dooley Elementary School.
In addition, Jackson Elementary School has 52.80% bilingual students, 2.96% are in the gifted and talented program, while 13.71% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Dooley Elementary School with 19.54% bilingual students, 9.93% gifted and talented students and 18.21% students in the special education program.
