Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only five distinction designations or awards for outstanding performance. For Holub Middle School these are in Mathematics, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Miller Intermediate secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Holub Middle School. They make up for 59.90% of student population, followed by African Americans (28.48%), Asians (7.46%), Whites or Caucasians (2.32%), Native Americans (1.22%) and Two or More Races (0.61%).
The student population at Miller Intermediate is also predominantly by Hispanics at 45.39%, followed by African Americans (38.96%), Asians (9.95%), Whites or Caucasians (4.13%), Native Americans (0.85%) and Two or More Races (0.61%).
Based on household incomes, Holub Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 83.86% compared to 82.65% at Miller Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Holub Middle School has a slightly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 42.30% of its student population compared to 40.53% at Miller Intermediate.
In addition, Holub Middle School has 42.30% bilingual students, 4.89% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.35% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Miller Intermediate with 44.05% bilingual students, 9.95% gifted and talented students and 12.62% students in the special education program.
