Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet, which is a part of RICHARDSON ISD, with Audelia Creek Elementary School, which is a part of RICHARDSON ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet has a regular student population of 609 with a 10.6 students/teacher ratio while Audelia Creek Elementary School has 569 students and a student-teacher ratio of 12.2 students/teacher ratio.
Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. On the other hand, Audelia Creek Elementary School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 50 in student achievement, 70 in school progress, 63 in closing performance gaps and 68 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet's one out of seven distinction is in Science. Audelia Creek Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet. They make up for 48.44% of student population, followed by Hispanics (28.24%), Whites or Caucasians (15.11%), Asians (3.78%), Two or More Races (3.78%) and Native Americans (0.49%).
The student population at Audelia Creek Elementary School is also predominantly by African Americans at 53.25%, followed by Hispanics (35.85%), Asians (4.39%), Whites or Caucasians (3.34%), Two or More Races (2.46%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
Based on household incomes, the Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 65.85% compared to 88.75% at Audelia Creek Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet has 121 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 19.87% of student population. Audelia Creek Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 216 or about 37.96% of student population.
Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet’s bilingual students comprise 19.70%, gifted and talented students, 7.06%, while 13.14% are in the special education program. Audelia Creek Elementary School bilingual students comprise 37.79%, gifted and talented students, 1.76%, and 16.87% are in the special education program.
