Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 90 in closing performance gaps. It scored 91 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Wester Middle School also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 92 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Wester Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Griffin Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Griffin Middle School. They make up for 62.72% of student population, followed by Asians (12.60%), Hispanics (11.70%), African Americans (7.51%), Two or More Races (4.71%) and Native Americans (0.64%).
The student population at Wester Middle School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 46.06%, followed by Asians (23.40%), Hispanics (15.02%), African Americans (10.14%), Two or More Races (5.01%) and Native Americans (0.38%).
Based on household incomes, the Griffin Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 4.45% compared to 15.02% at Wester Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Griffin Middle School has 22 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.80% of student population. Wester Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 56 or about 7.01% of student population.
In addition, Griffin Middle School has 2.67% bilingual students, 12.60% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.56% are in the special education program.
