Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. When we compared Griffin Middle School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, with Scoggins Middle School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Griffin Middle School’s regular student population is 786 with a 13.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Scoggins Middle School is 1,109 students and a 16.4 students/teacher ratio.
Griffin Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 90 in closing performance gaps. It scored 91 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Griffin Middle School and Scoggins Middle School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Griffin Middle School. They make up for 62.72% of student population, followed by Asians (12.60%), Hispanics (11.70%), African Americans (7.51%), Two or More Races (4.71%) and Native Americans (0.64%).
The student population at Scoggins Middle School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 35.35%, followed by Asians (24.98%), African Americans (17.49%), Hispanics (14.34%), Two or More Races (7.30%) and Native Americans (0.45%).
Based on household incomes, the Griffin Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 4.45% compared to 20.47% at Scoggins Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Griffin Middle School has 22 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.80% of student population. Scoggins Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 52 or about 4.69% of student population.
Griffin Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 2.67%, gifted and talented students, 12.60%, while 10.56% are in the special education program. Scoggins Middle School bilingual students comprise 4.69%, gifted and talented students, 11.63%, and 11.81% are in the special education program.
