When we compared Glenoaks Elementary School, which is a part of NORTHSIDE ISD, with Ott Elementary School, which is a part of NORTHSIDE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Glenoaks Elementary School has a regular student population of 551 with a 12.4 students/teacher ratio while Ott Elementary School has 559 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.5 students/teacher ratio.
Glenoaks Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 56 in student achievement, 72 in school progress and 67 in closing performance gaps. A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Ott Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Glenoaks Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Glenoaks Elementary School. They make up for 55.72% of student population, followed by Asians (16.70%), African Americans (9.44%), Whites or Caucasians (9.44%), Two or More Races (8.53%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
At Ott Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 64.22% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (19.32%), African Americans (8.77%), Two or More Races (6.80%) and Asians (0.89%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Glenoaks Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 90.74% compared to 45.44% at Ott Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Glenoaks Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 39.20% of its student population compared to 3.58% at Ott Elementary School.
In addition, Glenoaks Elementary School has 36.48% bilingual students, 2.00% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.35% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Ott Elementary School with 0.72% bilingual students, 2.86% gifted and talented students and 15.74% students in the special education program.
