When we compared Fulshear High School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, with Dr Thomas E Randle High School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Fulshear High School’s regular student population is 2,123 with a student-teacher ratio of 20.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Dr Thomas E Randle High School is 759 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.5 students/teacher ratio.
Fulshear High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 85 in school progress and an impressive100 in closing performance gaps. It scored 94 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Fulshear High School bagged all seven distinction awards in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Dr Thomas E Randle High School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Fulshear High School. They make up for 40.18% of student population, followed by Hispanics (27.23%), African Americans (20.02%), Asians (8.90%), Two or More Races (3.11%) and Native Americans (0.28%).
The student population at Dr Thomas E Randle High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 47.43%, followed by African Americans (32.81%), Whites or Caucasians (9.88%), Asians (7.64%), Two or More Races (1.98%) and Native Americans (0.13%).
Based on household incomes, the Fulshear High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 27.70% compared to 69.43% at Dr Thomas E Randle High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Fulshear High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 8.67% of its student population compared to 13.31% at Dr Thomas E Randle High School.
Fulshear High School’s bilingual students comprise 8.38%, gifted and talented students, 6.55%, while 8.57% are in the special education program. Dr Thomas E Randle High School bilingual students comprise 13.18%, gifted and talented students, 3.16%, and 13.57% are in the special education program.
Fulshear High School's 102 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 4.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 11.3 years. Dr Thomas E Randle High School's 49 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 3.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.1 years.
Of its teaching staff, Fulshear High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has 16 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 22 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 37 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 25 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including two beginning teachers. Dr Thomas E Randle High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has two teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 15 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, seven teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 22 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including three beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Fulshear High School employs 54 female teachers and 47 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, four special education teachers are being assisted by eight teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs seven staff members in the school administration department and 13 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Dr Thomas E Randle High School employs 25 female teachers and 23 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, one special education teacher is being assisted by four teachers aides or paraprofessionals.
