Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Elliott Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, with Fisher Elementary School, which is a part of FRISCO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Elliott Elementary School has a regular student population of 648 with a 14.7 students/teacher ratio while Fisher Elementary School has 538 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.3 students/teacher ratio.
Elliott Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 75 in student achievement, 92 in school progress and 76 in closing performance gaps. It scored 87 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Fisher Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 91 in student achievement, 93 in school progress, 88 in closing performance gaps and 92 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. This is in with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Elliott Elementary School. They make up for 29.63% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.62%), Asians (23.46%), Hispanics (13.12%), Two or More Races (7.41%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
The student population at Fisher Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 52.97%, followed by Asians (21.75%), Hispanics (12.83%), Two or More Races (6.32%), African Americans (5.76%) and Native Americans (0.37%).
Based on household incomes, Elliott Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 37.19% compared to 6.13% at Fisher Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Elliott Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 11.57% of its student population compared to 6.51% at Fisher Elementary School.
In addition, Elliott Elementary School has 10.65% bilingual students, 2.62% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.26% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Fisher Elementary School with 5.76% bilingual students, 4.46% gifted and talented students and 18.77% students in the special education program.
