Both schools garnered only two distinction designations or awards for performance. For Edison Middle School these are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps while Meyerland Middle School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Edison Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 98.23% of student population, followed by African Americans (1.18%) and Whites or Caucasians (0.59%). There is no Asians, Native Americans and Two or More Racesstudents in the school.
At Meyerland Middle School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 56.27% of student population, followed by African Americans (27.43%), Whites or Caucasians (12.88%), Two or More Races (1.75%), Asians (1.49%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, Edison Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 95.09% compared to 69.50% at Meyerland Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Edison Middle School has 280 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 55.01% of student population. Meyerland Middle School has slightly more ELLs at 296 or about 25.94% of student population.
