River Oaks Elementary School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Dearing Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Dearing Elementary School. They make up for 37.88% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.78%), African Americans (22.22%), Two or More Races (8.08%), Asians (3.87%) and Native Americans (0.17%).
At River Oaks Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 62.13% of student population, followed by African Americans (18.13%), Whites or Caucasians (10.67%), Asians (6.40%), Two or More Races (1.87%) and Native Americans (0.53%).
Based on household incomes, the Dearing Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 52.53% compared to 79.20% at River Oaks Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Dearing Elementary School has 79 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 13.30% of student population. River Oaks Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 193 or about 51.47% of student population.
In addition, Dearing Elementary School has 13.13% bilingual students, 2.36% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.75% are in the special education program.
