Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. The current standards, called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, outline what students should be able to learn and do in each course or grade. When we compared Crockett Elementary School, which is a part of WEATHERFORD ISD, with Seguin Elementary School, which is a part of WEATHERFORD ISD, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Crockett Elementary School has a regular student population of 428 with a 13.5 students/teacher ratio while Seguin Elementary School has 541 students and a student-teacher ratio of 11.6 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Seguin Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Science, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Crockett Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Crockett Elementary School is Whites or Caucasians who make up nearly 72.20% of student population, followed by Hispanics (21.50%), Two or More Races (3.27%), African Americans (2.34%), Asians (0.47%) and Native Americans (0.23%).
The student population at Seguin Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 53.79%, followed by Hispanics (40.48%), Two or More Races (2.59%), African Americans (1.66%), Native Americans (1.29%) and Asians (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Crockett Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 50.23% compared to 63.40% at Seguin Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Crockett Elementary School has 9 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 2.10% of student population. Seguin Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 79 or about 14.60% of student population.
Crockett Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 1.87%, gifted and talented students, 4.67%, while 19.39% are in the special education program. Seguin Elementary School bilingual students comprise 14.97%, gifted and talented students, 4.07%, and 25.14% are in the special education program.
