Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Crockett Elementary School has a regular student population of 542 with a 18.6 students/teacher ratio while Oak Forest Elementary School has 861 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.6 students/teacher ratio.
Crockett Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Oak Forest Elementary School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Crockett Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Crockett Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 71.77% of student population, followed by African Americans (12.18%), Whites or Caucasians (10.15%), Asians (3.51%) and Two or More Races (2.40%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Oak Forest Elementary School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 57.61% of student population, followed by Hispanics (27.64%), Asians (5.81%), Two or More Races (4.99%), African Americans (3.48%) and Native Americans (0.23%).
Based on household incomes, Crockett Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 67.53% compared to 16.84% at Oak Forest Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Crockett Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 28.41% of its student population compared to 2.56% at Oak Forest Elementary School.
In addition, Crockett Elementary School has 29.70% bilingual students, 15.68% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.12% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Oak Forest Elementary School with 3.25% bilingual students, 45.18% gifted and talented students and 5.69% students in the special education program.
